Hear why our customers choose Richard Jay
A vets clinic need dryers as well. When your laundry equipment breaks down, Richard Jay can install new machines very quickly. Today we speak with Kat. Can you tell us a bit more about yourself and the practice? “My name is Kat, I'm one of the vet nurses here at Vets at Acacia Gardens. We're a very busy general practice clinic, we've got about four full time vets and about 10 nursing staff. Keeping very busy with surgery and hospital patients.” And what we've got there beside you is the Maytag Stacked Dryer. I wonder if you could tell me a little bit about how long you've been using this product. “We've been using this product for about a week now and hasn't been bad at all. We've done so much drying, like our towels and our bedding for our patients. We had our washing machine break over the weekend and we had a giant stack of laundry to do today and we've already gotten through most of it and most of it is already in the cupboards, all nice and dry.” Before you purchased this, I understand you said you went through Google search to find Richard Jay, what was the problem that you had? “I needed some heavy-duty dryers to keep us going.” And these fit in the bill nicely? “Absolutely.” Lovely. How have you found Richard Jay from the very search engine, right from the very beginning to where you're at now with the final product? “Yeah, really great. I sent off an email, I got a reply within a day or so and I had Fiona come out and measure our space. She recommended this machine for us and it's been great. Fiona send off all the information for our technicians so they were able to install the electrical circuits and the air ducts and, it's all good.”

Jot from Valley View Motel bought a 16 kilo Electrolux residual moisture control commercial tumble dryer. In this interview tells his experience from googling Richard Jay’s service. Thank you very much for agreeing to do a testimonial. I just wonder if you could tell me a little bit about yourself and the company that you own. “My son and I are running a motel called Valley view motel. We are based in Murrundi.” Could you give me a little bit of an idea of what you think of Richard Jay’s presale in terms of the information that you got. “We looked on the internet, we Googled for information. What sort of dryer are we looking for? And then we finally got in touch with a sweet lady called Fiona (from Richard Jay), who gave us all the information related to the products. The best part is that she timely follows up and that she is looking after our needs first. And according to our needs she suggested a couple of products and gave us time to choose which is the right one for us.” Now in terms of the Electrolux, why did you eventually choose the Electrolux commercial tumble dryer? What was it about this dryer that you liked the best as to why you chose it? “Electrolux is a worldwide famous brand name so people know they are reliable. Just like a Samsung or any other brand. Electrolux is one of the most popular brands in the market.” And obviously, here you've got some local service agents too so that helps a great deal. Is there anything else about the whole presale and after-sales that you had any comments on? “Yeah, definitely. I can say that I see Fiona as one of the pillars of the company. She follows up and after the machine were delivered and installed, she called and she visited us to see if everything was okay. She always checked if we had any issues or questions. We can ring her and she can guide us to the right direction.” Oh well, that's lovely. Well thank you very much Jot. You've got a 16 kilo Electrolux, with a residual moisture control. You're using it for sheets and towels. Is there anything else that you're going to utilize it for? “Not at the moment, and we're looking forward to buying an on-ring press. We'll see how it's going.”

Tolemans 1 hour dry cleaners uses a new commercial washer. The machine size was important, but the 15 minute time save is great as well. I'm with Nathan from Toleman's 1-Hour Dry Cleaners. Nathan purchased the LG 15 kilo washer “The beast. Yeah, it's great.” How have you found it, Nathan? “It's fantastic. Yeah, we used to have domestic machines, little 10 kilos. This is 15 kilos so it's got 50% more drum space. I can fit good king size doonas and underlays in there that need a good wet clean, and they come up so much whiter, so much better in there. Yeah, we do a lot more in it. They extract a lot better. I'm finding that compared to our old domestic machines that we've always ever had, we go through one a year. Hopefully this'll last us a lot longer. But yeah, we're finding we can extract a lot more moisture out of it, and I'm cutting probably 15 minutes off our drying time in total. In terms of full loads of towels and doonas, and things like that. Definitely noticed a huge difference. It's fantastic. A lot of useful programs on it as well.” What made you pick the LG, mate? “Just the compact size. I need the smallest form factor for a 15 kilo I could find. I looked everywhere. I looked at all the different brands and the LG was the only one.” How did you find dealing with Richard Jay? “Yeah. Declan. You were fantastic. You got it for us as soon as we signed on the dotted line. It came the next day. Picked it up, easy to install. Plugged it in, ready to go.”

We spoke with Andrew Venosta about the importance of laundry within the facility. Andrew shortly explains how the barrier machines are used. Could you tell us a bit more about your aged care facility? “Villa Maria Catholic homes, Star of the Sea aged care commenced service on the 9th of October, 2017. So we're just approaching our first anniversary. The whole facility is built around an ocean theme because here in Torquay on the surf coast, it's a lovely environment. The home effect for Star of the Sea residents, we have a lovely chapel, very spacious, welcoming chapel. We have generous open spaces. We have lovely gardens, courtyard gardens.” How important is washing for the residents? “With respect to the residents, we need to be able to launder their clothing and we need to do it well. We need to ensure that we can return it at an acceptable stance. It's folded, ironed. And we like our residents to be happy and looking good and feeling comfortable about how they appear, so we need a laundry that enables us to achieve that.” What is being washed in your facility? “We provide all the bed linen for our residents, our dining service, our tablecloths, napkins. We also have our cleaning service. We have our microfiber systems, so that's all our cleaning cloths, our mop heads. So all those aspects of the service also have to come through our laundry.” What is essential when it comes to washing? “One of the fundamental principles of the laundry service operation in residential aged care is to ensure minimization and minimize risk of cross infection. And so what we have is the laundry side, which is what we consider our dirty laundry, where the laundry comes in. It goes to a sorting process, it’s loaded into the machines. Then we have on the other side of what is actually a physical barrier or wall. The clean laundry will then come out of the washing machines and they're not crossing over, so your clean and your dirty never touch each other. The Richard Jay company were invited right at the outset of the planning called central, that is the barrier laundry system. That system has been very effective for Star of the Sea in terms of implementing our laundry service. It certainly enables us to achieve our key objective, which is preventing cross infection through our laundry service. But certainly I would recommend Richard Jay to any provider in terms of laundry design and layout.” Are the residents satisfied with the quality? “We receive regularly very good feedback from our family members and also from our residents. It comes back to the standard of the accommodation we provide, but it's also the care that we provide. The residents, at Star of the Sea do not live in our workplace. The principle is, we work in their home. So everything that we do here at Star of the Sea is about the residents in their home, their lifestyle and their quality of life at the end of the day.”

Today we have Caroline from St. Kilda Laundromat with her new GMP roller here for an interview. She is more than satisfied about the new ironer. We asked her a couple of questions. Caroline, I was wondering if you could tell us a little bit about what you use your roller ironer for? “For bed stuffs, or linens, as in you know bed linens, sheets, doona covers. I'll do basic table cloths, we do linen with starch. And that's pretty much it, really.” How do you find using it with linen that's got starch on it? “It's much, much better from that point of view because of the adjustable speed. You can take the speed down to a very low speed, so if something has starch in, it's normally cotton. It's a thicker material. The starch makes it much harder to iron, so with the slower speed, it means there's more contact with the roller, with the heating part of the element. Therefore it's getting the creases out a lot easier.” What would you like to say to a potential purchaser about one of these machines? “It's been absolutely fantastic. Compared to the old one I had before because of the adjustable speed. The temperature as well, I found it to be perfect for pretty much everything I need to do. I've got no complaints about it at all. I highly recommend it to anybody that uses a roller.”

Before Nicole had the new washers, she was washing till 10 o’clock in the evening. Now she is ready 8 hours earlier. Read more in this interview. Thank you Nicole for agreeing to talk to us. Could you tell me a little bit about who you are and what you do? “My name is Nicole. I'm the owner of the Port Macquarie Motel.” Okay, and just out of interest, how long have you been using the product? I believe you've got the LG Titan? “Yes, probably roughly about three months now.” Okay. What was the problem that you had, what was the problem you had to try and solve? “I had a 10 kilo domestic washing machine and I was doing washing till probably anywhere between six and 10 o'clock at night. So this has definitely solved the problem. Now I'm finished my washing by about probably one or two o'clock in the afternoon.” How many loads was that with the old washer, approximately? “Probably at least 10. This one's a 15 kilo one now, so it cuts it down considerably.” When you were looking for a product to solve this problem, where did you go looking? “I just Googled and then made a telephone call and got onto the rep. They came out and gave me a quote and they're fantastic.” Oh, brilliant. And what would you say about Richard Jay generally? “Richard Jay is very professional. Definitely followed up on the quotes and the after service as well.” Anything else that you want to say about the machine itself? “No, it's just a lifesaver. I've got my life back now. Not spending all the time washing now. So yeah, it's fantastic.”

In this interview we talk with Kay, owner of Ocean Beach Dry Cleaners and Coin Op Laundrette. Her family is over 25 years in the laundry business and a more than a satisfied Richard Jay customer. Time to ask her more about the business. Could you tell us a bit more about yourself and your business? “We're third generation. So my grandparents obviously had dry cleaners. Mom and dad owned it for 25 years. And my husband and I bought the business probably about two and a half years ago, so it’s going great. Previously we had the top loaders which were obviously quite old and were a lot smaller. So we've upgraded to the front loaders, they're nine kilos, had great replies from our customers and great response in the community as well.” You have our Capital Plus spin out rental plan, where you have a monthly payment which includes breakdown service. What was the reason that you chose to be part of the Capital Plus? “It was convenient from my business point of view. It was convenient for us to pay it off and pay by the month as well. A definite big plus for us is the maintenance that's included in that Capital Plus program, and it was justifiable for us. So not only do we get to refresh the business, upgrade our machines, but it's an affordability as well.” How's it been dealing with the Richard Jay group? “Richard Jay have been fantastic. Our machines were starting to need to upgrade anyway. And it was just a perfect timing that Fiona contacted us. She made it all very easy, measured everything up, very thorough in explaining everything to us. So there was not a lot of questions we had cause she was quite thorough. The whole thing just flowed so nicely coming from a customer point of view. The install came, the machines arrived, everything went according to plan.” Would you recommend Richard Jay? “Definitely. I'm really, really happy.”

Andrew bought new dryers from Richard Jay and although he first did not believe it, it did saved him money. Read more about his laundry equipment in this interview. Could you please introduce yourself? “I'm Andrew Hawken. I've owned this laundry for 14 and a half years, and basically run the whole lot myself with my wife, and we go well.” In terms of Richard Jay, how long have you been working and using them over the 14 years that you've owned the laundry? “14 and a half years. We had Maytag washing machines that were already here and we replaced those as they wore out being so old. One of them was bought in the 70's, and we replaced that with a Maytag washing machine top loader.” Well what would you say this product has helped you with the most? “Basically, less maintenance, reliability, and yeah, easy for customers to use. Well, we were looking into saving money because everything's going up. So when you said that the Electrolux commercial dryers used less gas, I didn't quite believe what you said. But after probably two months, I worked it out as between $80 to $100 saving a week with just the four dryers. Well, we can we get filled up by a gas company weekly, and it dropped from over 850 litres per week down to 750 or even less.” What would you say people were looking to Richard Jay in terms of buying products from them? “I wouldn't hesitate. They're quite good, very prompt. If they have the product in stock, it's delivered within a couple of days.”
This morning we're with Ingo, owner and head chef of the Pemberton Forest Lodge. Ingo presently bought some laundry equipment from us such as the LG commercial washer, Electrolux tumble dryer and the GMP Ironer. We asked him about his experience. How have you found the equipment work wise for you at the lodge, Ingo? “Well, first of all, superb. It's been really good to have the machines that are so easy to handle and doesn't give us any headaches. My staff got used to it very quickly, especially with the support we got from you guiding us through how to set it up and everything. It was very easy, and my staff quickly learned how to jump on the machines and use them immediately. It's actually exceeded my expectation, I have to say. Not only for the cleaning but we were very concerned about the noise level because the machine is also not far away from the restaurant or directly behind a guest room. Unbelievable how quiet the machines are. There are very positive results. Laundry coming out from the dryer very fluffy, much better than the machines we had before.” Thank you very much Ingo, for your time. We wish you all the success at your lodge in Pemberton. “Thank you. We are very, very happy, and we could highly recommend your products.”

At Cover n Dine they offer you a solution for your dining room chairs. Chair covers made to fit your chairs perfectly. Good washers are really important for this business as well. We asked Tyrone Lampasi (owner) more about his experience with Richard Jay. Can you just tell me a little bit about the business? “So we do a lot of table and chair covers, all sorts of stuff like that for weddings, parties, functions, all that sort of linen side of things.” And when was the business started? “It's about 17 years ago. My father started it. It is a family-owned and run business.” And when you were looking for laundry equipment, what was the key factor that you believe was the reason you chose Richard Jay’s machinery? “There’re a few things. For one, there's definitely that spin factor. These are a hundred-G faster in the spinning category, compared to the old machines. So quite a lot faster. And they are just simple to use in general. Just push to start, the other ones required a bit more working to start.” And I hear that you're a customer with our Richard Jay Capital Plus program. Which is where the machinery is on a rental contract. What was the reason that that was chosen with the machinery? “We were worried that if a machine were to break down, then it would cost quite a bit to service such a large item. So with just the rental plan, all that servicing was covered in the plan. If anything would go wrong, then it would all be taken care of.” Can I just ask, how has the journey been with Richard Jay's? From when you got in contact with us to the installation, how are you finding that so far? “Everything has been great so far. It's just straight from trying to work out the plinths, to calling Grant up in regards to just getting everything done, and it's just went very smooth.”

Today we talk with Alan, an Onsite Manager who was looking for a replacement for the then current commercial washer. He got an extra service which pleased him a lot. So I wonder if you don’t mind introducing yourself. Please let me know who you are and what's the company that you're working for? “I work for the Charbonnier Motel Singleton in New South Wales. I'm the Onsite Manager 24-7 and Maria and I have been here for just over two years. One of the main things that I've been trying to get is a new Electrolux washer machine. As you can probably see from the old Wascator washing machine. Which is probably about 34 years old now because the place was built in 1984. It has seen better days. So I Shopped around and came up with the best deal with Electrolux.” Now I'm very curious because your installation was very interesting. It's a little bit tricky to start off with the base. Could you give me a little bit of an idea of how the installation went. “I was a bit curious as to how we were going to get the old machine out. Weighing over 400 kilo, it's not a one man job. Well it was a one man job, but it wasn't a one man job for me. Unbeknown to me the bolts that were in the floor were there for over 30 years. We did try to get the nuts off the bolts, thinking that they were going to still reuse the old bolts and we didn't want to damage them. Ben (the installation guy) came along and he actually did the next thing that we were about to try. Just grinding off the old bolts. Within about 20 minutes, four bolts were off the floor. In probably two and a half hours the old machine was out, the new machine was in. At the end of the installation, we had one of our water tanks catch fire. One of our hot water systems catch fire. I had been with Ben down here doing this work, helping him and then gone upstairs only to find Ben back upstairs. ‘There was a fire downstairs, I've just extinguished it’. “ Uh oh, so we're not only installers, but firefighters too? “Firefighting as well, yeah. As he said, the flames were up over the top of the tank and he grabbed the first fire extinguisher he could see. Put the fire out. Came up to see me and I came down and went, whoa. All this linen and all the laundry material. If it had happened at two o'clock in the morning the hotel would have been on fire, so all the thanks. You've done a great job installing the washing machine and helping put out the fire.”

With the right commercial dryer you can save work. That is the experience of Christine Delaveau as well. Read more in this interview about her experience with professional Electrolux dryers and Richard Jay. Can you please give us a short introduction of yourself? “My name is Christine Delaveau. I've worked for Bundaleer Care Services at Wauchope for nearly five years. I'm the laundry supervisor here.” About a year ago we put in a couple T5675 residual moisture control dryers from Electrolux into your site. I wonder if you could tell me a little bit about how they've performed. “From taking clothing out of there for the very first time and felt the clothing, we instantly noticed there was a 100 percent difference in the touching of the softness of the clothes. They felt completely 100 percent dry. Then we started to proceed to take them out and realised that there were no creases. We could just hang these garments up straight away. It has taken at least 75% of our ironing away from us. This is a shirt that has come out this morning. Now this is for a lady in our nursing home who is extremely particular. It has linen in it, and it has come out perfectly wearable. Also, we have a pair of nice Miller's pants which are all around the country and most elderly people wear. They have come straight out of the dryer. They do have a bit of viscos in them but that is to me, and I'm sure to the residents, perfect.” How was Richard Jay’s service? “When the gentleman from Richard Jay came and put these two big machines in they came through. They were extremely gracious. They were very mindful of what we were doing at the time. They put them in, there was no fuss, no anything from the second they were turned on they have never missed a beat. And we can phone Richard Jay and within a certain amount of time, very quickly we have someone on site.”

I'm here with Steve Smith, CEO of AIG, Aboriginal Investment Group. We're talking about the Remote Laundries Project here that's being launched today, February 28th in Barunga. Steve, a couple of questions. How did this project come about? “It's really a collaboration between us and the community. A little bit of brain storming and two sides of the story of course. Social and economic development. And this project really ticks both boxes, so huge health issues in terms of laundry and community, and then economic benefits providing meaningful and sustainable employment.” Why did you select the brands LG stacked washers and dryers, and the e-CleanPay system for your tap-and-go? “We've got 30 years in terms of supporting community and doing projects, so we've got a fair bit of history in terms of what works and what doesn't work. Fundamental to this project and more particularly to these laundry machines, there was the basis of the service that would be provided. So not only are they a cost effective solution in terms of the size and their efficiency, but also maintenance and support behind them was quite significant, which is what we need in remote communities. Fundamental to the system and the range of the unit is all backed here. Really important that the technology supports the process, so the delivery of the chemicals into the machines and then the delivery of chemicals to site.” So is that a good manageability and accountability reporting system that you've got? “The backend of the system is fundamental for the donation platform that we're going to operate. To be able to measure what we're doing is critical to its success. The remote start system is driven by telecommunications through a patent tablet. Once the payment is made, the attendant, obviously pushes only one push button, start. Both washer and dryer. In terms of the operation of the machines, hot water, chemicals are delivered remotely. So all the chemicals come in. The disinfectant is done remotely. And then, 38 minutes later, community members come in and pick up their washing and off they go.” Why did you select Richard Jay for this project in particular? “Well, fundamental to us is maintenance and support in community. We always have trouble with the projects that we deliver in terms of providing the level of service and expertise required. We chose Richard Jay because of their relationship with Orange Sky. Through discussions with Orange Sky, we understood that they're providing a fantastic service to those guys, and thought it would fit for purpose for this particular project. So in terms of the project and its delivery, obviously the donations platform will be fundamental to its success. You can donate people for a day, washing for a day or individual washes. That will be online and that will also be in Darwin throughout communities in terms of the Quest Payments solutions. So basically tap and go at cafes, which allows people to donate on an individual level, and then through the website at the more corporate level.” What are the website details if people want to go ahead and donate? “It's www.remotelaundries.org.au.”

Having professional laundry machines is important for a laundromat. Dev Singh has LG coin operated commercial washing machines and Electrolux commercial tumble dryers. Read the customer’s reaction to the machines in the interview below. How are the commercial LG washing machines working for you? “Pretty good. Customers respond really good to the machines as well. They tell me they're the best washing machines they have ever seen.” And your Electrolux dryers, how have your customers experienced them? “Pretty good. They're faster than others. You can save 25% time in drying compared to other machines.” So you find your customers are happy with doing their average washing? From washing clothing, to blankets, doonas, things like that? “Yeah. Definitely. They're really happy. Especially about the machinery, they said they've never seen this sort of machines before.” And how did you find the Richard Jay service, from your first introduction to Richard Jay, to your installation, to knowledge of the equipment and everything? “100% satisfied, definitely. Alex from Richard Jay is awesome. You get his service whenever you want it and he goes above and beyond to help you out.” Fantastic to hear. And would you recommend Richard Jay for any upcoming projects or any referrals to people you know? “Yes, to everyone, any time. “

They focussed on my needs and how they best could meet them. They offer great back up service, we have Preventative Maintenance Contracts with RJLE for all our sites, I think that says it all."

Bega Laundrette is owned and operated by Wayne Horeman who has had a relationship with Richard Jay since the company acquired the old Robertson’s Laundrette Equipment in Melbourne in 2011. The self service laundrette houses 11 washing machines and 3 stacked dryers including Maytag coin slide models. When asked of his experience with Richard Jay, Mr Horeman said “I just ring Joe and let him know what I want and it turns up. “Tory in the office is lovely to deal with and if there’s ever a problem with a machine I access the Tech login portal on www.richardjay.com.au and all of the information I need is there.” As Bega is a remote location, having the access to Tech Login page is vital is so important. “All of the information I need is there” added Mr Horneman. As Richard Jay have warehouses in each mainland capital city, we are able to dispatch machinery to Bega laundrette within a coupe of days. This keeps the business running without impacting the bottom line. “I was very impressed” said Mr Horneman, “I even rung Joe South and congratulated him on the turnaround”.“I get pretty good service, that’s why I’m still dealing with Richard Jay”, commented Mr Horneman.
